What this site knows about you
The short version
Every page on this site is static. The one exception is the contact form, which posts to a small endpoint described below. There is no account system, no database of visitors and no advertising network. The site does use Google Analytics to count visits, which sets cookies in your browser — that is described below.
What stays on your device
If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your
browser's localStorage under the key bb-theme.
It never leaves your device and is not readable by anyone else. Clearing
your site data removes it.
Analytics
Every page loads Google Analytics from
googletagmanager.com. It records which pages are viewed,
the page you arrived from, your browser and device type, and an
approximate location derived from your IP address. To tell one visit
from a return visit, it sets cookies whose names begin with
_ga. That data goes to Google, which processes it under
its own privacy policy.
You can block it with most content blockers, by clearing or refusing cookies for this site, or with Google's own opt-out browser add-on. The site works the same either way.
What happens when you use the contact form
The contact form collects your name, email address, what you are interested in, and your message. It is used to reply to you and for nothing else — no list, no newsletter, no resale.
When you send the form, the message goes to a small endpoint on this site, which runs on Google's Firebase platform and forwards it by email to botanybrands@gmail.com. Google is involved at both steps — as the host that runs the endpoint, and as the mail provider that carries the message — so Google's privacy policy applies to those steps as well as this one. No other company handles it.
The message is not stored along the way. There is no database behind the form, and what you wrote is never written to a log. If delivery fails, the page says so plainly and offers to open your own email client instead, which sends from your address rather than through this site.
Who else sees your visit
- Firebase Hosting (Google). The site is served from Google's hosting infrastructure, which keeps standard server request logs — including IP address, user agent and requested URL — under Google's own terms.
- Fontshare (Indian Type Foundry). Typefaces are loaded
from
api.fontshare.comandcdn.fontshare.com, so your browser makes a request to them on every page load and they can see your IP address. - Google Analytics (Google). Receives the visit data described under Analytics above.
Hosting and fonts are not a choice made to learn anything about you, and neither is under this site's control. Analytics is the one deliberate exception: it is there to show which pages get read.
Links out
Where this site links somewhere else — a GitHub profile, a piece of writing hosted elsewhere — that destination has its own rules. This notice stops at the edge of https://botanybrands.mx.
Your message, and getting rid of it
If you have written in and want the correspondence deleted, ask and it will be deleted. There is no process to navigate; it is one person reading one inbox.
Changes
If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves.
